  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Snap a Selfie with the Big Pelican

Headed up to the Sunshine Coast these school holidays? Brisbane Kids has you covered with our list of the best things to do with kids on the Sunshine Coast!

Outdoor ideas for kids on the Sunshine Coast

Mudjimba Beach Sunshine Coast

Mudjimba Beach on the Sunshine Coast

  • Pretend to be pirates at Maroochydore’s recently refurbished Cotton Tree Playground.  Complete with a pirate ship, log stepper, and all-abilities bird’s nest swing.
  • Dig your toes in the sand at Mudjumba Beach. You’ll find the Sunny Coast locals at this little-known gem nestled in between busier Mooloolaba and Coolum.
  • Big kids will love Bli Bli’s epic Watersports Complex. Teens can learn to wakeboard like a pro, slide down massive waterslide slides and even catch a few Barra.
  • Enjoy spectacular views from the top of Mt. Coolum. On a clear day you can see all the way up to Noosa and down to Caloundra. Note: This is a steep climb so might be best for bigger kids.
  • Find waterfalls hidden in plain sight. Just off Buderim’s bustling business district is the Buderim Forest Waterfall Walk. It encompasses 45 hectares of pristine rainforest and stunning waterfalls.
  • Visit one of the quaintest towns on the Sunshine Coast. Montville’s adorable main street’s fudge shops, cuckoo clocks and antique stores has something the whole family will enjoy.
  • Aussie World will keep toddlers, teens, and everybody in between entertained. Ride on the restored 1927 carousel, hop onto the ferris wheel, and try not scream on the Wasp Roller Coaster.
  • Eat the freshest fish-n-chips from Mooloolaba’s seafood wholesalers. The seafood shops (located at the spit end) offer prawns and fish right off the boat.
  • Snap a selfie with the Big Pelican. Noosaville’s famous feathered friend has been delighting Queensland kids since the 1970s.
  • Take the toddlers to Caloundra’s Golden Beach. Sheltered by Bribie Island this pocket of paradise is the perfect spot for little people to splash around.
  • If your family includes a four-legged friend then don’t miss North Shore Beach. This spectacular hidden spot is one of the most pristine strips along the coast.
  • Ride the Ginger Train at the Ginger Factory, sample some ginger and book in for a beekeeping demonstration.
  • Take a submarine ride in the Mooloolaba Beach Down under Submarines like a true explorer!
  • Enjoy beating your kids at a game of putt putt at Maroochy River Golf Club.
  • Marvel at a 150 year old Moreton Bay Fig on the Fig Tree Walk at Kenilworth followed by a jam donut at the Kenilworth Bakery.

Animal experiences on the Sunshine Coast

  • No visit to the Sunshine Coast is complete without a trip to the world-famous Australia Zoo. Their incredible collection of animals includes tigers, elephants and of course, crocodiles.
  • Cuddle a calf at Maleny Dairy. Book a tour at this picturesque dairy farm to learn how milk is produced, bottle feed baby calves and even taste their delicious products.
  • Get up close and personal with the gentle giants of the sea. During whale watching season (June- November) book a tour to see these majestic creatures from the bow of your boat.
  • Watch sharks glide over your head at SEA LIFE. Walk along this aquarium’s incredible underwater tunnel and be amazed at the diversity of marine life.
  • Enjoy a parrot on your shoulder at Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World with over over 700 native and exotic birds from around the world.
  • Cuddle a koala at Wildlife HQ at Woombye followed by a high ropes course to keep the kids on their toes. Also home to the famous Big Pineapple!
