  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Glendon Camping Grounds near Warwick – Review

Last updated: June 7, 2022
A girl leans over the fence to greet a small horse. An older boy feeds a white horse over the fene.

This idyllic bush retreat feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but is actually located less than 30 minutes from Warwick (or two and a half hours from Brisbane).

As serene as it is, it’s important to note that this campground is popular with dirt bike, quad bike and motocross bike enthusiasts. The park managers pride themselves on offering a family-friendly environment, but the sport does mean it can be noisy during the day.

If you prefer peace and quiet, call ahead to check whether any riders will be there during your preferred dates.  On the other hand, if you’re looking for somewhere where the kids are welcome to ride their motorbikes safely, you may have found the perfect holiday location!

A picnic table and chairs sits on the bank of a dam surrounded by trees.

Camping at Glendon Camp Ground at Warwick

The camping area is nestled along the peaceful Thanes Creek, running through the enormous 1600 acre property. This makes it a great place for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. You are guaranteed to at least see roos grazing peacefully around the campsite. The weather can get cool in the Warwick area, but Glendon Camping allows fires so you can keep cosy and toast marshmallows to your heart’s content. The reception area sells firewood, as well as a variety of cold drinks and treats. Even better are their fresh, free-range eggs available daily.

Various pieces of playground equipment including a swing set are nestled amongst trees on a large property

Facilities at Glendon Camp Ground

There are both powered and unpowered camping sites, as well as basic cabins (BYO linen). There is an amenities block that services both the cabins and the campers. Glendon also welcomes day visitors for a small fee. Dogs are allowed if kept on a lead, so even Fido can be included in the getaway! There is a small playground for kids, pictured above, and ample room for bicycles, scooters, remote-controlled cars, ball games etc. Please note, you must bring your own drinking water, as this property relies on rain water tanks.

Activities to enjoy at Glendon Camp Ground

You may be “out bush” but there is plenty to do at this campground, including:

  • Gem fossicking – at their dedicated fossicking station, kids are guaranteed to strike it rich!
  • gold panning – you will need a license for anyone over 12, and you can BYO equipment or hire from reception
  • treasure hunting with a metal detector (available for hire)
  • drive the 4WD trails
  • hit the BMX track – bring the bike!
  • take a family bushwalk – ask at reception for a map of the trails
  • pat and feed farm animals – join in the fun of feeding time for the chickens, quails, guinea pigs, goats, ponies, piglets, alpacas, peacocks, sheep and more.
  • enjoy the motorbike tracks that are suitable for kids and beginners
  • hire non-motorised watercraft to paddle around the dam. You can also fish in the dam.
  • participate in seasonal activities including an outdoor movie theatre, jumping castle etc.

How to make the most of your stay at Glendon Camp Ground

Make sure you chat to the managers when you arrive to plan your activities for your stay. Parts of the property were once part of a gold mine, and although no longer operating, there are still traces of gold to be found. One guest reportedly found 55 ounces of gold! You can also use this campsite as a base to explore everything else the Warwick and Southern Downs area has to offer. Check out our family-friendly itinerary here.
