  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

What’s closed (and open) due to Coronavirus in Brisbane?

What national parks and picnic areas are open?

As of May 2nd in Brisbane, residents will be able to drive to and picnic or walk within 50kms of where they live.

Table of Contents

  • What national parks and picnic areas are open?
  • Childcare centres, schools, universities
  • Libraries closed due to Coronavirus
  • Galleries and museums closed due to Coronoavirus
  • Theatres and cinemas closed due to Coronavirus
  • Theme Parks closed due to Coronavirus
  • Other venues and facilities closed due to Coronavirus

You need to be mindful that while day-use areas of many national parks are open, facilities like conservation centres, swimming creeks, toilets and in some cases certain 4wd tracks will still be closed. If you arrive at any destination and the car park is full, you may want to consider choosing a different area. Social distancing is still a requirement for any outing. For those with younger kids you may want to reconsider going places that have playgrounds as your children will not be able to use them.

Here is a list of our favourite picnic places in Brisbane.

POPULAR BRISBANE PLACES

A few things to note:

  • Roma Street Parklands is open but their BBQ’s and playgrounds are closed.
  • You can assume that ALL playgrounds at all locations are closed.
  • Daisy Hill Conservation Park is open but the conservation centre is closed.
  • South Bank Parklands is open BUT all playgrounds, barbeques and swimming areas remain closed until further notice

Childcare centres, schools, universities

As COVID-19 inevitably impacts communities throughout Australia, many childcare centres, schools and businesses will be forced to close (even if only for a short time), and events will be postponed or cancelled to try to slow down the rate of infection.

This fact sheet provides some very helpful information for parents and carers with children who are especially concerned about Coronavirus, to help guide them through the uncertainty.

Events cancelled or postponed due to Coronavirus

Many events will also be forced to postpone, particularly large events such as festivals. Please ensure that you check with the websites of event organisers over the coming weeks, as many events in the Brisbane Kids Event Calendar may, unfortunately, be postponed or even cancelled. We will do our best to keep these event listings updated, however, it’s always best to double-check before heading out to an organised event – especially over the coming weeks.

Contactless deliveries during Coronoavirus isolation

Many food delivery businesses have already issued statements regarding ‘contactless’ deliveries. Companies such as UberEats and Dominos have stated that they will offer the option of your delivery being left at your front door to avoid person to person contact.
