  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus Co-Curricula Activities and Other Programs

The aim of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is “to enable students to become globally engaged and develop their thinking, communication, self-management, teamwork and research skills.” (Source: Queensland Academies) The accelerated academic subjects and the format in which IBDP curriculum is delivered better prepares students for university study.

Part of the IBDP philosophy is the holistic education of individuals by fostering compassionate and active global citizens. To support this philosophy, Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) is mandatory part of the IB Diploma. By participating in CAS activities, students have opportunities to work cooperatively with others and gain self-awareness. Programs available include art, theatre, dance, music, debating and mooting as well as community focused activities and various individual and team sports. Through the CAS program, students gain a Certificate II in Active Volunteering giving them access to Gap year Volunteering projects.

To assists student with the academically challenging curriculum, QAHS has implemented the Mentor Learning Community. Each student is assigned a mentor to ensure they achieve their potential by developing a range of strategies to support their learning. Through QAHS’s partnership with Griffith University students are able to gain credit for approved IB courses that can be applied to the Griffith Health Foundation Year courses.

Enrolment at Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus

Being a selective entry school, QAHS’s admissions process is a personalised service that ensures students are prepared for the rewarding challenges that lie ahead. Students applying to QAHS are required to submit an application form, sit an entrance exam, and take part in an interview. An information pack detailing the admissions process is available and applications can be submitted online via the Queensland Academies website.

QAHS offers a number of scholarships for students entering Year 10. Scholarships are valid for three years and cover 100% of the annual International Baccalaureate fee as well as the student resource scheme, providing the student upholds the terms of the scholarship. To learn more about QAHS and tour the campus you can join the Open Day in July. Members of the Admissions team will be there to guide future students through the admission process.
