  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Woorim Beach Bribie Island

Last updated: April 3, 2023
the view from woorim beach.

Suppose you’re looking for a patrolled surf beach for families with glistening water, golden sand, small waves, and easy access to amenities. In that case, Woorim Beach, located on picturesque Bribie Island, is an ideal place to visit.

Woorim Beach is just over a one-hour drive north of Brisbane. It is part of a beautiful stretch of coast on the eastern surf side of Bribie Island. Protected by Moreton Island, the beach experiences a relatively small swell between 0.5 to 1 metre creating a safe and enticing destination for families to swim and play.

With lovely soft sand, Woorim Beach is a great spot to sculpt an epic sand city and a fun thing to do on Bribie Island with kids. Take buckets, spades and some construction vehicles to help build, then scour the beach for treasures of shells, pebbles and sticks to decorate the finished city.

When it is time to dip your toes into the water, the smaller waves allow little Brisbane Kids to experience the thrill of ocean waves without too many big surprises. Like most beaches, there isn’t any shade on the sand, so a shade tent or umbrella is helpful.

There are areas of Woorim Beach designated for watercraft and fishing.

Where to eat at Woorim Beach

There are several places to grab a bite to eat while visiting Woorim Beach, all very close by, even for little toddler legs. Various cafes and restaurants offer different cuisines, from burgers to seafood.

Bribie Island Surf Club, located next to the beach, provides children’s meals for members and guests. The family bistro at the Blue Pacific Hotel serves a kid’s menu and has an indoor play area featuring a playground and old-school arcade game machines.

Picnic tables and BBQs are situated near the beach or around Lions Park for a lovely shady place to enjoy something brought from home. There is also an IGA at Woorim in case some snacks are needed for the drive home.

Accessibility at Woorim Beach

wheelchair and accessible matting at woorim beach bribie island.

At the time of writing, Moreton Bay Council is trialling an Accessible Beaches Initiative. Thirty metres of beach matting has been placed at the main entrance (Access Point 12), just north of the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club. The beach matting provides wheelchair access to the sand at Woorim Beach. Furthermore, two beach wheelchairs are available for free hire on weekends and public holidays during this trial. One of the available wheelchairs is amphibious and allows the chair and its users to float in the water.

Beach wheelchairs need to be booked in advance via the following link.

What we thought of Woorim Beach Bribie Island

We love our visits to Woorim Beach. The coastline is vast and gorgeous, yet the smaller waves make it an ideal spot for children to play. The proximity of the car park, toilets and cafes make our family visits to Woorim Beach easy. The shaded picnic tables and playground at Lion’s Park, right by the car park at Woorim Beach, offered a great place to enjoy our lunch.

How to get here

Woorim Beach is located on North Street, Woorim, on Bribie Island. There is a car park and street parking; this can become busy during peak times like weekends and school holidays.
