  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

The Bribie Island Butterfly House

Last Updated: August 8, 2023

No insect in this world is more loved by humans, especially kids, than butterflies. We are so enamoured of these colourful and delicate creatures that some people go out of their way to create sanctuaries to protect and breed them. One such destination, Bribie Island Butterfly House.

A trip to Bribie Island Butterfly House will enchant anyone who delights in the gentle flutter of butterflies in the garden. Here you’ll step into a secret oasis where butterflies fill the air like colourful confetti. This is a captivating experience that is not to be missed!

Our Experience at Bribie Island Butterfly House

A team of dedicated volunteers who carefully nurture the eggs, chrysalises, and caterpillars run Bribie Island Butterfly House. Upon entering the venue, you’ll walk past the breeding lab and observe an engaging selection of hungry caterpillars devouring leaves. The stripy Monarch butterfly caterpillars were our favourite!

As you enter the butterfly enclosure, you are immersed in a world of pure enchantment, where the delicate fluttering of butterfly wings fills the garden. Marvel at the awe-inspiring sight of hundreds of butterflies soaring freely in an outdoor sanctuary that provides a safe haven for them. The garden is immaculately maintained, and beautiful flowering plants fill the space.

Here visitors can witness the striking beauty of an incredible collection of butterflies up close, very close! Some of these butterflies, like Australia’s largest butterfly, the Cairns Birdwing, cannot be seen in the wild in Brisbane, let alone at such close proximity.

Walking through the space at your leisure, you will also pass a small corner of the sanctuary named Stick Insect Island. Look closely and you’ll discover an incredible collection of fascinating stick insects in this dedicated space.

Come prepared to behold the magic of these wondrous creatures up close and be captivated by their appearance. This peaceful location is a wonderful place for grandparents who enjoy gardening or the outdoors to share their love of nature with their grandchildren.

OUR TOP TIP

Butterflies are attracted to colour, so wear your brightest shirt and have your camera ready, as you may find a bouquet of butterflies landing on you at any moment.
