  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Public Tours vs Personal Tours

Brisbane Kids reviewers have recently attended both the public and private tours at Trevena Glen.  Both have a lot to offer to visitors so it depends what you are after.  The public tour does the rounds of many of the animals here and you are able to feed the pigs by throwing bread over the fence, then feed some alpacas through the gate.  After that we were able to pat some sheep and feed a goat and pat donkeys before getting to pat a rabbit and cuddle some guinea pigs. Finally we were able to hang out with a miniature horse and then hang out with the chooks.  This was a great tour and gave us a taste of everything the farm had to offer, although we did have to take turns interacting with the animals with the other guests on the tour.  Even though it was a rainy day, we just wore our ponchos and raincoats and had a fantastic time.

When our reviewer went to the 1-hour personal tour, we booked the last tour of the day. This was a great experience as we got to feed lots of the animals and put them to bed. We led the miniature pony to his stable, held guinea pigs and stroked rabbits. We fed the huge pigs and goats, collected eggs from the chickens, led the alpacas inside, visited the donkeys, and even herded the flock of sheep from the paddock to the shelter!

It was really lovely getting up close and personal with all of the animals on both tours. Our tour guides were really friendly and informative, and we learned a lot about all of the animals in their care.

The public tour is a great way to get a taste of everything the farm had to offer, although we did have to take turns interacting with the animals with the other guests on the tour. We were able to see all the different animals on the farm and learn about them.  This is ideally suited to first time visitors and people who want to see all the different animals at the farm.

The personal tour would be ideal for repeat visitors or people who have a favourite animal or experience, as we were able to tailor our visit so we could stay longer with the animals the kids loved the best, which was great. It also allows for additional experiences like closer interactions with the alpacas and more choice about how you spend your time at Trevena Farm.

Our Experience at Trevena Glen

Our reviewers on the personal tour booked the last tour of the day, and this was a great experience as they got to feed lots of the animals and put them to bed. They led the miniature pony to his stable, held guinea pigs and stroked rabbits. The children fed the huge pigs and goats, collected eggs from the chickens, led the alpacas inside, visited the donkeys, and even herded the flock of sheep from the paddock to the shelter!

When our reviewers attended for the public tour, it was a rainy day but it was still a fantastic experience.  Pack a raincoat and gumboots and enjoy seeing, feeding and patting the animals.  Our kids also loved the large treehouse playground before and after the tour, and there’s a cafe where you can purchase drinks and treats.

Admission Details

The Trevena Glen Farm is available for bookings six days a week and is closed on Sundays. Please note the farm is not open to the public for drop-in visits. Bookings are essential so the farm can ensure the animals are on hand rather than out in the paddocks and that they have sufficient staff onsite.  Public tours operate on Saturdays through school terms and Monday to Saturday on school holidays.

Accessibility and Safety

Trevena Glen is an approved NDIS provider, with sessions available both in the morning and afternoon. The farm is disabled, wheelchair and pushchair friendly. There is ramped toilet access and the main walking area is reasonably flat, making it suitable for most wheeled access. However, some areas may require additional assistance due to uneven terrain or slopes, but the farm staff are very willing to help with this.

This is a mainly outdoor experience, so it’s important to remember hats and sun screen and drinking water, or raincoats and gumboots on wet days.  Bottled water is available for purchase.

It is also important to wear sensible shoes and clothing. As you would expect, visiting a farm and cuddling farm animals can be muddy and messy. So remember to wear old clothes. Closed-toe shoes are also a must, and wellies are recommended if there has been recent rain.

Please also be sure to follow any instructions given by staff, especially regarding interaction with the animals — for their safety and your own.

Glad we could help Jennifer. Have a wonderful time 🙂 The best part about Trevenna is the feeling that the animals are truly loved and cared for.
