  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Caboolture Historical Village – yesteryear fun for families

Last Updated: November 3, 2023
Caboolture Historical Village
The Caboolture Historical Village is the number one tourist attraction in the Caboolture region, and it’s easy to see why.

A dedicated team of volunteers bring the village to life seven days per week, giving families a snapshot of life “in the olden days”.

Operated by the Caboolture Historical Society, the village showcases buildings, vehicles and historic items. There are more than 110,000 items in the collection! The age of the items span the time period between 1802 and 1985.

There’s plenty for families to see and do at the village, and lots of activities for kids to do over the school holidays.

Things to see and do at Caboolture Historical Village

The village has a collection of more than 70 cars, trucks and tractors, and more than 70 buildings to visit, 40 of which are of historical significance. Some of the historic building include the original Caboolture Council Chambers, complete with some of the original furniture, the first Caboolture Hospital, and Glenowen House, an example of how the upper class lived in the Caboolture area. There’s also churches, the police station and original railway stations.

Set over 12 acres, there’s plenty of interactive experiences on offer. Here’s our pick of the best ones for kids:

  • Watch the blacksmith make horse shoes the old fashioned way
  • Have a go at gem sieving – every child leaves with a small swag of gemstones
  • Take a ride on the train through the extensive property (beware of outlaws – they sometimes hold up the train!)
  • Enjoy a traditional Devonshire tea at the Tea House
  • Visit the old post office, the barber or the washroom, to see how these jobs were traditionally performed
  • Lunch at the Caboolture Historical Village Cafe, followed by an ice cream if it’s a hot day
  • Make something crafty, such as a peg doll (craft activities offered during the school holidays)
  • Pat the friendly resident donkey
  • Pose for a photo opportunity in the retro telephone boxes

For your convenience, there are a number of toilet facilities located around the property. You are also welcome to bring a picnic, if you don’t wish to purchase food and drinks. There are lots of lovely shady spots where you can spread out the picnic rug.
