  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Huxtable Park and Playground in Chermside West

Last Updated: August 19, 2020

Huxtable Park, in the northern suburb of Chermside West, is a green nature play space that your Brisbane Kids can explore for hours. There are two playgrounds, a rainforest walk, barbecues, a basketball half-court, a meandering creek with ducks and a bike path which connects all these elements together.

Huxtable Park Playground

Begin by parking your car near the playgrounds on Dundalli Street or Redbourne Street, Chermside West. The Dundalli Street playground has swings, a helicopter, small fort and spring toy. This playground is best suited to younger children. If you follow the walking path in an easterly direction, you will also find another set of swings and a slide. Close by to this playground is a basketball half-court and a large green space for games that involve running!

Cross the bridge over the pretty creek, and you can walk to the Redbourne Street playground. This playground is best suited to older children and features swings, a slide, and plenty of climbing opportunities. There are also barbecues located at this playground. Neither of the playgrounds has shade structures, but are partly shaded by the surrounding trees.

Huxtable Park – Imagination Factor

Huxtable Park is a leafy and natural oasis in the northern suburbs, and Brisbane Kids will feel like they are a million miles away from city life. There are trees to climb, a creek to explore, and plenty of wildlife to spot, including some friendly resident ducks. There is also a short rainforest walk that will undoubtedly spark some imaginative play, as your Brisbane Kids pretend to be explorers in the jungle! Look up and see if you can spot a possum in one of the possum boxes located in the park’s tall trees.

Accessibility

There is not a huge amount at Huxtable Park to accommodate those with special needs and there aren’t any toilets. However, the bike paths are mostly flat and it makes for a very pleasant walk around the parklands. The paths are also popular with parents of babies and toddlers in prams, and there is plenty of wildlife for you to spot along the way, including water dragons and birds.
