  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Forestglen Park Browns Plains

Forestglen Park is set back from the main road, making this a relaxing place to spend time with your entire family.

Forestglen Park Playground

Surrounded by trees and landscaped gardens, one of the main features of Forestglen Park is its popular gazebo and water feature. As well as the man-made landscapes, the park also has a rocky riverbed, complete with two little timber bridges to cross.

There are two different playground spaces here- the original playground is set on sand and features two separate play structures with slides, swings and rockers. In the middle of the sand here is a digger – always a popular element in sand-based playgrounds!

The newer playground has a bark chip base and a flower themed play structure with tunnels, a bridge and a slide, as well as a car and several musical elements.  A highlight here is the joey swing which allows a parent and child to swing together (or a younger sibling with an older sibling). There is also a standard belt swing alongside the joey swing.

There are lots of shady spots to play or picnic in this park and the newer play equipment is covered by a large shade sail, however the original play equipment is not covered. Apart from the gazebo, there are two single tables undercover and one larger shelter with two tables. There are also two barbecues – one double electric and one wood fuelled.

Imagination Factor

The pond area at Forestglen Park is a fantastic spot for fishing games and the trees and other natural surroundings make hide and seek games a lot of fun. Children can spend a lot of time exploring this park, discovering real creatures living amongst the plants and rocks, or imaginary beings like trolls under the bridges.

Musical elements to any playground are great fun for Brisbane Kids who might imagine themselves in a band banging on the drums or xylophone, and the oversized floral theme to the newer equipment might have kids imagining themselves as fairies or elves.

The older playground has a central digger – it would be easy for Brisbane Kids to imagine they’re in the middle of a construction site here.

Accessibility

Disabled toilet facilities are provided at Forestglen Park, though they are fairly small and may be hard to navigate. There are lots of flat concrete paths and landscaped areas throughout the park that would be suitable for wheelchairs, as well as the main modern gazebo set on concrete. The playground is unfenced, however the area is quiet and reasonably protected from cars.
