  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

If you love fine food and great wine you can’t miss Regional Flavours. Held at South Bank every July, it is Queensland’s premiere food and drink event offering the best of the best when it comes to Queensland produce. The added bonus of this event is it is totally family friendly which means the whole family can experience the finer things in life together.

Please note that while the dates have been confirmed for 2020 as 18 & 19 July, program details have not yet been confirmed. However, you can check out the highlights from 2019 below to see what you can expect in 2020. We will updates these details as soon as they are confirmed. 

Regional Flavours The Program

Regional Flavours is Queensland’s must-do food and wine festival for a good reason! Boasting numerous venues and featuring a program jam packed with free cooking demonstrations including Australia’s best celebrity chefs, live music, producer markets, street stalls, a popup bar and bistro, a river-front cocktail stalls plus just for Brisbane Kids, some great kids activities, Regional Flavours is well worth a visit.

The main stage is the place to be if you love cooking! The who’s who of Australian cooking will be here including Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris, Miguel Maestre, Poh Ling Yeow, Dan Churchill, Justine Schofield and Ellie Bullen.  Just be aware there is limited seating and arrive early for the chef you are wanting to see –  the Main Stage program is available online prior to the event on the following link so you can plan your day ahead of time https://www.regionalflavours.com.au

Kids Collective at Regional Flavours

Perfect for little Brisbane Kids, there will be free kids activities in the Epicurious Garden, South Bank’s edible plant garden. It is here that Brisbane Kids will find an interactive space for little food fighters. Join Lenny and the Ants for a giant storytime and a range of crafty activities and get your hands dirty harvesting tomatoes and planting vegetables. Lenny and the Ants is a children’s book commissioned to raise money for OzHarvest and launches at Regional Flavours.

Activities will continue throughout the day from 10am – 5pm so everyone can come and go as they please and still get to participate in all activities.

Queensland Taste Stage and Marketplace presented by The Courier-Mail

This venue is all about local chefs, cooks, farmers and producers.  With a stage full of demonstrations and over 80 stall holders from 17 regions of Queensland, there will be lots to explore and try including an assortments of cheese, wine, chocolate, fruit, herbs, pasta, and plenty more. The best bit is all the producers will be there so you can have a chat to them about the product before you buy it.

eatSouthBank Street Stalls

If you are looking for lunch on a budget, head along to the eatSouthBank Street Stalls, located on Little Stanley Street where all food and drink will be $8 or less per serve. The stores will be a selection of pop-up food stalls run by South Bank restaurateurs, all featuring fresh Queensland produce of course!

The Sound Society 

Park yourself up for an afternoon of live music set amongst the leafy surrounds of South Bank Parklands at Regional Flavours. From wind-down acoustic tunes to bouncy beats and jazzy soulful melodies, The Sound Society has you covered while you indulge on rich regional wines and fresh artisanal snacks from the surrounding stalls. 

River Quay presented by eatSouthBank

This venue is probably more suited to the adults with live music, plus pop-up food and cocktail stalls run by South Bank’s five-star restaurants; Stokehouse Q, The Jetty, River Quay Fish, Popolo and Aquitaine. Located on the river, the River Quay will have extended opening hours until 7pm.

The Hunting Club presented by Australian Good Meat & The Charming Squire

Lovers of meat will love The Hunting Club which is part bar and bistro and part stage featuring amazing food and craft beers from local Queensland brewers. The beauty of this venue is that you can watch free demonstration run by chefs, experts and local graziers while you eat.

Regional Flavours is held at South Bank, South Brisbane, Qld, 4101

  • Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 2020 from 10am – 5pm daily

Please note: A new addition to Regional Flavours this year is that there will be extended hours in certains areas. This will include the River Quay being open until 7pm, and The Hunting Club which opens from 10am – 10pm.
